![]() ![]() KARMA does need to be turned on, but you don't need to run any GEs. (* On an 88-key, you can actually gain nearly an octave back** if you're willing to use a Global Transpose of +12 or sacrifice SW1 or SW2 with an Octave Up setting, and set KARMA Thru In Zone Transpose to -12.*** This places the shutoff key at the very first C on the keybed. Not having a customisable shutoff key really hurts when you lose a chunk of keys*, along with that RPPR is triggered regardless which track is the active track. I agree with you on the RPPR thing for sending Sysex messages. But it does open up further possibilities for live performance that you don't get from the Real Time controls. Granted, you don't get access to every thing you can do with SysEx, nor are Tone Adjust edits recorded as specific SysEx messages - only the sliders' movements or switches' status changes are recorded as SysEx events. Furthermore, you can copy Tone Adjust settings between programs, including just the assignments without any of the values. You are free to customise it any way you like within the parameters offered to you. There are a lot of options available apart from the default Tone Adjust settings for each engine. I wonder if Korg considers Tone Adjust to be its built-in SysEx (sort of) performance tool/editor. (I know certain controls can be mapped to the Control Surface but these don't include SysEx. Anyway, I think the Kronos is flexible enough that with enough knowledge you can make it do almost anything you want. I had the PA1X and found it to be a beautiful keyboard to play. But that is why they sell the Korg PA3X or whatever version it is now. You won't get intros, endings and multiple variation buttons. You can get some very good drum patters and backing tracks by just experimenting. What I found helpful is to start with a Karma I like and then start taking parts out and see how it changes the pattern. ![]() By this I mean getting use to the Karma settings and learning to play along with the Karma changes. I think the Kronos can work in a limited manner as an arranger. (I don't normally reply to my own posts but hey ho!) Jump to Sequence marker on beat / bar / instant would be a compromise Please don't turn this post into an opportunity to have a whine - let's be positive about all the work the good people at Korg have put into Kronos! We don't all have the benefit of a band to play along with. I'm not asking Korg to introduce full arranger functions to Kronos because that's not going to happen in the real world (although that would be very nice) but a little variation can make a BIG difference - how many times do we see a wonderful demo but with a repeating single drum track throughout, snippets of songs but not the full version. This facility would certainly make Kronos an immense performance tool? iPad with Set List Maker or Midi Designer apps). from the one performance screen when I want to whilst playing without the rigid nature of a backing tracks or without the use of peripherals (e.g. but frequently I would just like to change a drum track change a KARMA preset turn arpeggiator on / off adjust other parameters etc. I know Kronos is not marketed as an arranger although it does have some marvellous variation capabilities with KARMA etc. in set list mode) so we can play with SysEx messages and midi CC controls? Now Kronos will have touch screen drag capabilities (like the M3) I wonder if Korg would consider introducing this as a new tab (e.g. I'll say it again: "A SYSEX CONTROL SURFACE!" - Pretty much anything can be altered on Kronos with SysEx and midi CC control messages in REAL TIME! I'm really looking forward to the imminent update to OS 3.0 - THANK YOU KORG for this early X-mas present!Īnd on here: (magnify the image under "Hi guys") - A Sysex Surface can clearly be seen.
